Interlink Global Announces Agreement to Create Regional Phone Company in Ecuador to Provide Broadband and VOIP Services Throughout A Vast Underserved Region
MIAMI –June 29, 2006– Company Continues Its Expansion in Latin America with One of the Largest Projects of its Kind to Date
Interlink Global Corp., (OTC: ILKG), today announced that it has executed a final agreement with local partners and authorities of the State of Manabi, Ecuador, South America. This agreement sets the stage for creating a Private Telephone Company which will serve the entire State of Manabi with Broadband Internet Connection, Voice over Internet Protocol telephony, and other applications using the infrastructure provided by Interlink. The new company will be named Manabitel and will include local investors and Interlink Global Corp. serving as the strategic partner providing the technical know-how and operational expertise. Local investors and Interlink will contribute an estimated $23 million in startup capital to Manibitel, with Interlink owning 25% of the capital of the company, as well as receiving management and vendor fees from the company.
The first phase will be developed using Interlink Global’s platform connected by way of satellite, wireless Internet, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Max, with succeeding stages to include ground networks consisting of: microwave radio, optical fiber and traditional copper wire.
Aiming to Meet The Pressing Needs Of Emerging Economies Throughout Latin America
According to Severino Rivano, Vice President of Interlink, who has previously developed similar projects in Nigeria and Mexico, “This project constitutes one of the largest of its kind in Latin America to date, and is indicative of the potential for continuing future development in additional underserved and underdeveloped areas, not only in Ecuador, but in Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina, among others.”
Mr. Rivano continued,” With a current population of 1,128,000 and only 62,000 telephone lines, or less than 6% of density, the Manabi region is grossly underserved. Through the development of Manabitel, the goal of the local government is to serve a large percentage of unattended fast internet and telephone demand in three years, despite an estimated deficit of approximately 150,000 telephone lines and the fact that Broadband is virtually non-existent.”
According to Mr. Rivano, “Furthermore, this coastal region of Ecuador has a maritime-based economy with a fishing industry currently processing tuna, shrimp and other seafood varieties, and exporting them worldwide. The need for clear, high quality communication, long distance telephony, and access to the World Wide Web and to E-Commerce obviously is critical for its continuing development. By immediately employing the latest technology to develop a modern telecom infrastructure, we are confident we will respond to the area’s pressing needs and, in fact, the key element of our proposal that led to its overwhelming approval by the government of Manabi was its rapid deployment feature.”
$40 Million Investment Expected to Yield $4.5 Million Annual Net Profit When The Project Is Completed
Mr. Anastasios Kyriakides, Chairman and CEO of Interlink stated, “The total investment when the project is fully deployed will reach approximately $40,000,000 and recovery of the investment is expected to be accomplished in approximately three years. Part of the investment will come from local investor funds and part will come from net operational revenues starting in year one and continuing until the project will be cash positive in the fourth year.”
According to Mr. Kyriakides, “We further believe that gross revenues will average approximately $13.3 million on an annualized basis over the first four years of the project, and in addition to the fees Interlink will be earning, the estimated net profit for Interlink will be approximately $4,500,000 annually after the system is fully operational.”
Mr. Kyriakides noted further, “These gross and net revenues could increase substantially as more services are deployed and the penetration level of customers receiving services grows beyond the initial target.”
