I just found the new Skype 3.0 Beta. The new functions called “extras” can be found under the Tools tab at Do More. The standard extras that come with the install are:

  • Public chats:

You have the possibility to give your chat a topic and a picture,
apply your own moderation rules and promote it on your blog or webiste.

  • Sketch Pad:

A whiteboard you can share and draw on together with others.

  • Crazy Talk:

    A video avatar conferencing tool.

  • Unyte:

    An application sharing module.

  • Pamela Call Recorder:

Lets you record your Skype calls.

  • Skypespace:

    Torrent style sharing program.

  • Games:

Invite your Skype contacts to play chinese checkers or backgammon with you online.

All toghether there are now 20 Skype Extras and many more on the way. Using the Skype Extras
Manager you can easily plug in the extras of your choice.

The user interface has also been redesigned and now allows more personalization.

Another interesting new feature is “Click-to-call” which allows web surfers to make callsto
ordinary with just one click using SkypeOut. It works with both Internet Explorer and Firefox.

These additions to Skype will make it a sticky application.
